U13A get the season of to a Winning Start

Match Report from the Scorers Table.

Today witnessed the start of the league season for the FCC U13A. Making a welcome return to the East Area Division One.

FCC won the Toss and choose to bat. An intelligent decision by the Skipper Jeevan Luther, given the early sunsets at this time of year..and our pace heavy attack.

Krish Sarda and  Vedant Kotha opened the batting. With NLCC opening the bowling with a leg spinner. Vedant and Yuvraj Ryatt (run out by a brilliant bit of fielding) both fell for zero...suddenly FCC found themselves 3-2. Thankfully heads were not lost and  4 nice partnerships followed that just got started.. but never pushed on. Taking the score to 84 for 6.

Out stepped Jaik Parmer in the 13th over at number 8 and after overcoming the nerves of the first 4 or 5 balls settled in nicely to put together a partnership of nearly 50 runs with Krish.  With Krish passing 50 in the process.

Credit to North London and their death bowlers as they kept Krish off strike and restricted us to just 7 or 8 runs of the last 3 over.

FCC ended on 142/8. With Krish carrying his bat through the innings. Hopefully not for the last time this season.

Eashan Bhudia opened the bowling  for FCC and was on the money straight away.  Bowling their opener for 0 on the 4th ball. Ending his spell of 3 overs with figures of 2 for 14.

NLCC quickly found themselves 19-3 of 5 overs and in a bit of trouble.

Then their number 4 and 5 dug in and put on a partnership of 52 of the next 5 or 6 overs. With some fluent cricket shots and helped by some inconsistent bowling. They had suddenly passed 70 in the blink of an eye. On came AV to bowl. With his first 2 balls given as wides he took a breath and found his line and length. With ball 5 of his over proving the turning point of the game. As the batsmen went to play a shot and hitting the ball towards Zayd Nasir who took a confident catch and in that moment (in the words of the all seeing Julian Powe) changed the game. Suddenly  19 for 3 was 71 for 4 and then 71 for 5.

With the momentum truly with FCC ..Jeevan through the ball to Yuvraj Tulsiani ( yes my son..so I maybe biased) . Who bowled a beautiful spell. With his second ball beating the bat and ending up with the wicket keeper Krish...the batsmen tried to steal a quick single...confusion in the middle...but not for Krish . ..of came his glove and he launched the ball at the bowlers end....direct hit and the batsmen kept running back to the pavilion. Suddenly it was 71 for 6.

With the match approaching the 15th over and NLCC having their 'Big Man' at the crease Zayd was given the ball. The discussion between captain and vice captains was about putting the fielders on the boundary...but Zayd had other ideas. Striding up to Bowl and bowling him clean on the 4th ball of his over...well done young man ending with figures of 2 overs 2 for 7.

With the game all but won there was still time for Rian B to grab a wicket with a perfect yorker and Zayd to take another catch of the bowling of Yuvraj R in the 18th over and end the game....
