Last year I was contacted by CLUB Award with a suggestion to put Finchley CC forward for the award of Cricket club of the year. This prestigious national event is sponsored by some big names including TNT sports, CAMRA, Club Control and Green King.

For a chance to be in for a nomination I had to provide details of all the amazing things the club achieved during 2024 and as you probably know we won. So I was surprised to be contacted again for the 2025 nominations and I submitted our entry explaining what we have done since the last award and also have in the pipeline, things like the school softball cricket competition, all the local school visits promoting cricket in particular our focus on girls and juniors for the future of cricket, our summer camps to help our the local community and promoting cricket for all, forward thinking and community focused.

We attended the event in Leicester on Wednesday evening and were shocked to win Cricket Club of the Year South 2025, an unheard of event to win the award 2 years on the trot especially with over 500 entrants and the final shortlisting of 10 clubs, a truly fantastic achievement and some great recognition of the hard work and success of this club.

This award is a great tool to help promote the club’s success and helps with our tireless grant work to help better the club and future proof it for many generations to enjoy playing cricket and keep Finchley cricket club alive, respected and enjoyed by many. Well done to everyone who helped us win the award and thank you.
