Director of Cricket - Leigh Wooldridge

The Club is very pleased to welcome Leigh Wooldridge as Director of Cricket!

I am pleased to announce that Leigh has signed a 3-year Contract to take charge of all Cricket Training & Coaching operations at Finchley Cricket Club. Leigh is a hugely experienced Cricket Coach and Fitness Instructor, having worked with Hampstead CC for the past 15 years as well as Teddington CC and Highgate CC. Hampstead U.13s were Middlesex League winners in 2021, and their U.15s were Middlesex League winners in 2023 – with Leigh as Head Coach.

Leigh has a Diploma in Sports Science & Advanced Personal Training and is a fully qualified ECB Level 2 Coach and FA / UEFA football Coach. Leigh is currently with Merchant Taylors School in charge of 2nd X1 cricket. He started a personal training business, Ignite Fitness, in 2010 (www.ignite-fitness.co.uk).

Leigh joined Finchley as an 8 year-old Colt in 1994/95 and played for Middlesex Youth and Middlesex Academy before playing premier league cricket for the Club as well as Southgate CC. In 2014 Leigh captained the Finchley 2nd X1 to the League 2nd X1 title. Leigh played non-league football for Potters Bar, Wealdstone and Harpenden Town FC. As a Coach, he managed Beaconsfield FC in the best-ever FA Cup run in their history and the most consecutive league wins in a row.

Leigh will be in charge of both Junior and Senior cricket at Finchley, as well as our Cricket Camps. The Cricket Committee anticipate that his appointment as Director of Cricket will see a marked improvement in both the fitness and performance levels of both our Junior and Senior players in 2024 and beyond.

Leigh will also help promote the Club and its activities through our website and social media channels. Please therefore remember to share your stories and / or photos throughout the season with Leigh.
