FCC - Update on improvements to Club infrastructure.

Dear All,

Thanks to the hugely successful “Just Giving” fund-raising campaign started back in the Summer by the Exec Committee, the Club has raised a staggering sum of £32,036.52 (including Gift Aid) - and this is only the first phase!

We would like to thank all our generous donors within the club community who have helped us achieve this target. We are now setting ourselves a stretch target of £50,000, so if you haven't already donated and would like to donate and get behind these projects, then please do so using this link - https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/finchleycricketclub-2023

The funds raised in the first phase will allow us to uplift the Club Infrastructure, starting with improving playing facilities and ground improvements (Oct-Nov 2023), Development of Girls cricket by having a dedicated Girls coach (Oct 2023) and an Electronic scoreboard (Jan-Feb 2024).

You all would have seen my communication about the launch of the Mill Hill Finches project for Girls cricket at the Club led by Anisha. It is truly an exciting time for the club.

We have also now invested in the installation of two state-of-the-art Hybrid Pitches and as you can see from the photo album, installation work is already well underway for the Hybrids pitches on the East End Road-side of the main square. If you look carefully at the photos, you will find Mr. Richard Johns , our only Honorary Life Member helping us out with this project. The new Hybrid Pitches require very little maintenance and will, in future, allow us to host more Junior X1 matches at Arden Field. We hope to have them available for use by our Juniors from mid-April 2024.

We are confident that this investment in Hybrid Pitches will substantially improve the cohesive nature and community appeal of our Junior cricket section and help to raise standards going forward.

Also, we are in discussions with a couple of suppliers regarding Electronic scoreboard and are hoping that work will commence for that in Jan-Feb 2024, to be ready in time when the season starts.

Lastly, details of the second phase with regards to further improvements to the clubhouse facilities will be announced later this year.

Graham Leggett,
Chairman & Junior Cricket Manager
