Yes, it only took 4 days of the new year to secure the club’s first piece of silverware, in what will be such a successful year that the new chairman has placed an urgent order for additional trophy cabinets! Having qualified for the Middlesex Finals Day from the group stage in October 2019, these 6 fine individuals took to the Finchley Indoor Centre on Saturday 4th January to battle for the coveted trophy.

We first defeated Winchmore Hill (by 18 runs) and then Uxbridge (by 4 wkts), largely facilitated by fantastic bowling and fielding displays. We then had a 2-hour gap between games filled with that classic sports nutrition, Turkish kebabs! We returned to the hall to play Wycombe House needing only a decent haul of bonus points to take the title. Again bowling and fielding brilliantly, we knocked them over for 74 - effectively sealing the title. By not being bowled out and finishing 68/4, Finchley lifted the trophy! A big well done to those played and also to Tilly Wijesinghe who bowled beautifully on the group stage day.

The indoor team has been running since 2003. Originally just a decent excuse for a winter Sunday lunch; this is now the 4th time we’ve been Middlesex champions.
The next stage is a County Play-Off against the winners of the Berkshire competition for a place in the last 32 of the ECB National competition. The play-off takes place at 4.30pm on Saturday 22nd February at the Indoor School. All support welcome!
