The 1s recorded an emphatic victory over Enfield on Saturday. Winning the toss after a brief shower, Enfield were put in to bat, and were immediately on the back foot amidst an excellent new ball spell from Seb and Dave. An incredibly quick bumper from Seb got Finchley on the board, and their pace and skill was too much for the Enfield batters. Remarkably Seb's hamstring and back made it through 11 overs, as he and Dave put Finchley firmly ahead in the game. Despite some brief cameos, Enfield found themselves 63-8 when Seb was finally hooked out of the attack. Dave continued to be excellent from one end, and with the support of Joel and Dan from the other, Finchley managed to prise out the final two Enfield wickets.

A probing opening spell from Enfield's overseas left-armer threatened some early-innings jitters, as run machine Matt McGowan fell LBW. Caleb and Gish, however, did well to weather the storm. Once through that spell the pair made serene progress against Enfield's change bowlers, and finished the game in a hurry to give Finchley an important 10 points.

2s (193-9d) got a winning draw vs Harrow St Mary's (63-6)

The 2s headed to Harrow St Mary's looking to add to their clean start to the season of 6 from 6. Heads were lost when skipper Dave revealed we were banned from continuing our run of outrageous run chases and were forced to post a score this time. The top order duly boycotted this task, with the top three all chipping to extra cover to confirm just what we had feared that sleepless preceding Friday night: we were batting on the proverbial 'sticky dog'. Jamie Powe entered the fray with zero ambition to steady the ship, walking down the pitch first ball on his way his way to a swashbuckling 19, before running himself out attempting a quick single after playing a forward defensive where the ball stopped dead less than one yard from the bowler's end.

An enterprising 31 from Yuvi Malhotra, complete with its customary dose of chat and risk of fisticuffs between every ball, helped wrest back some control before Matty Hoops strolled to the crease. Medium pacers who had previously been labelled 'wizards' by the top order were soon exposed as dibbly-dobblers, as the newly-converted all-rounder offered up some serene strokeplay, pushing balls into gaps and leaning on anything overpitched. With key support from the lower order of Zoraiz, SOK, and Matt Walshe, Hoops finished on 56 to drag us up to a very competitive total of 193.

As elegant as Hoops looked at the crease, no sight could match that of Matt Walshe standing at the top of his long run, wearing his bodyweight in knee braces and sweating liquid Ibuprofen. Coming from above the sightscreen, Walshe rolled back the years by picking up 3 early wickets - pads, stumps and a blinder from Farhan at slip with a celebration that left no-one in North-west London unsure of what had happened. Mikey joined in at the other end - having been given a tough job of opening up against an aggressive top order, he also picked up 3 wickets to leave Harrow St Mary's in trouble at 67-6.

A half-hour spell of drizzle didn't ring any alarm bells as the Finch were well set to wrap up the final four wickets quickly. In came either controversy or incompetence. As we came back out ready to go 7 from 7, we were met with an entirely preventable strip of soaking water on a length as gaps had been left in the covers. The game was called off and we had to settle for a winning draw and 5 points. Questions will be asked and the inquiry will last for several years. Dave will not sleep until he gets answers. But he will get them.

3s (265-7d) beat Twickenham (77ao) by 188 runs

Big win for the 3s as they comfortably defeated Twickenham by 188 runs. Anchored by 62 from Shayam, there were contributions from across the order to take Finchley up to a very strong score. Mohit's arsenal of pace bowlers were then too much for the Twickenham batting lineup, who subsided well short of their target.

4s (165-8) beat Hornsey (163-8d) by 2 wickets

Playing a time game in the metropolitan police sports ground in Bushey, Finchley won the toss and elected to field first. Hashmat Fazli and Vandith Sukhavasi opened the bowling. Hashmat bowled the opposition batsman in his 4th over, whereas Vandith took a wicket with a sky high catch to the keeper. Hashmat then took another wicket, this time with a nick to first slip. Hashmat stopped his spell at 10 overs whilst Vandith kept going. Sam Patel joined the bowling attack and nicked a wicket in his 3rd over with a clean middle stump ball. Vandith completed his spell after his 12th over and Vamsi Sukhavasi took over. After 2 overs, he was taken off and replaced by Vansh Thakker. After about 8 overs Sam Patel completed his first spell and Aaren Patel took over from Sam. Aaren bowled 3 overs before being replaced by Mark Melzer. Mark bowled about 5 overs whereas Vansh kept on going. Vansh finally got a wicket with a catch from Mark before then getting another wicket this time through a caught and bowled. To finish the innings, Sam and hashmat where brought back on to tighten the runs, where hashmat took another wicket having bowled the batsman. Delin Chacko then took a run out to seal the innings to 163 after 50 overs for 8 wickets.

Mark and Delin opened the innings and got off to a slow start. Mark hit the ball too early and it went up in the air before being caught by the fielder at point. Roopesh Prabhu stepped in and eased the run rate with some cracking 4s before getting an inside edge onto the stumps. Azaan Afridi then went into bat and not long after, Delin was bowled out. Vamsi Sukhavasi stepped in and went guns blazing by hitting some delightful 4s whilst Azaan was settling in. This went on for another 5 overs before Vamsi was dismissed through an LBW. Jeevan then went into bat and was dismissed in a short while. Hashmat then went out to bat in the cold and wet conditions and found the gaps for some lovely 4s to help bring the team closer to victory. Hashmat then went on to suffer the same fate as Roopesh through an inside edge. Vansh then went out to bat and took some time to settle before hitting some beautiful cover drives for 4s as well as Azaan placing it through the gaps. After about 3 more overs, Vansh was dismissed after being bowled. Sam then walked in and slogged to bring the team to a comfortable position of 6 runs in the last 3 overs before being caught out at deep extra cover. Vandith then went on, and a ball after Azaan got a well deserved 50. In the over after finchley needed 4 runs to win and Vandith finished the game by a fine shot across the line to find the gap between point and midwicket to seal the game.

Finchley won the toss and elected to bat. The inform duo of McGowan and Herath were opening up and saw through the first few overs in the powerplay until Matt who was looking solid knicked one to first slip. James came to the crease to join Herath however a wicket fell moments after with Gish hitting one hard back to mid on and having to depart on 19. Captain Tom Powe came to the crease at 40 for 2 and some runs were required to set Finchley back on track. James and Powe formed some what of a partnership making it to drinks 2 down. Within minutes of getting back on to the field James kicked one and had to depart for 21. George Taylor Yeates and Will Leggett went on to support Tom at the other end who was anchoring the innings for Finchley. They both help form 2 important partnerships scoring 10 and 14 respectively. Tom went on to score an important 105 runs and was further supported by Yuvresh and Daniel McGowan who managed to find the fence getting the total to 226 which was a good score considering the bowling and fielding efforts of Harrow Town.

Harrow Town came hard at the top getting off to somewhat of a flyer getting through the new ball and second change bowlers without losing a wicket but at the same time not getting too far ahead of the rate. Finally a wicket came courtesy of a fiery bouncer from the golden arm George Taylor-Yeates which nearly knocked the splice out of the bat leaving the score at 120/1. The 2 medium pacers in George and Gish bowled a serious partnership taking wickets frequently and giving away minimal runs. With the game up for grabs for both teams Gish stepped up further more and took a couple more crucial wickets taking the game into what would be a tight finish. Being anyones game towards the end of the innings the Medium pace in Gish and experience in Dave Burton helped Finchley to get over the line bowing out Harrow Town in the final over for 205. It finished up a really good game of cricket with the stand outs for Finchley being Tom Powe 105 and Gishan Herath 6/25 off his 8 overs
