FCC U13A (Arden Field) Home vs North London CC U13A Monday 16th May
Finchley CC won by 73 runs
On a beautiful summer evening, FCC entertained North London CC… and the dad’s crew!
The U13’s were led by captain Jeevan, who won the toss and opted to bat. Krish and Jeevan opened the batting. Krish fell early on so then came in debutant Thinuka. He took a couple of balls to settle in but unfortunately was caught a couple of overs later. Next in, came Zayd to join Jeevan who scored 39 runs & hit some lusty blows. Jeevan was then joined by Azaan scoring a 21 run partnership before Jeevan was controversially given out. Less said the better…
At 66-4, with FCC losing a couple of quick wickets, Max joined Azaan in the middle and played second fiddle trying to give Azaan the strike as much as possible. Azaan was in the zone and in superb form hitting twelve 4’s & two 6’s, entertaining the crowd. With Max rotating the strike and putting the bad ball away, Azaan and Max had a great partnership of 96 runs.
The innings was over & FCC had an extremely competitive score of 162.
After a quick turnaround, North London CC came out to bat.
Eashan and Max opened the bowling restricting their openers to 10 runs in 6 overs off the bat and collecting 1 wicket. The next 4 overs were bowled by AV and Jaik whilst taking another wicket, as North London struggled to 19-2.
By mid-innings, Jeevan made the decision to bowl Zayd and Aarav and they bowled economically conceded 25 runs from 5 overs. With 2 run outs, this restricted North London to 79-4, on came Kevin with the instruction to bowl outside off and he did exactly that.
With the game out of their reach, Thinuka came on to bowl and it was time to experiment. With 4 slips and only mid-wicket on the leg-side, it was vital to bowl 4th and 5th stump to invite the batsman to play outside the off stump. A couple of balls later in the 19th over, the plan worked, the batsman played at it and Jaik took a lovely catch at Gully!
With Kevin bowling the last over and only conceding 5 runs, the game was over and it was a comprehensive win for Finchley CC. Well done to all the boys and the parent’s support and encouragement to the team!!!
Big thank you to Amit and Tony and congratulations to Jeevan!!!
