A message from the Chairman/Junior Manager

Dear Parents and Colts,

Welcome to the 2024 Cricket season.

Wow, thirteen months has gone by as chair and with so many projects on the go the time has flown by. The winter has been almost as busy as the summer.

We have several new sponsors (North Finchely Tutors, KA Cricket, Winkworth, Copping Joyce, Savills Auctions, Allsops, Ignite Fitness, Anderson Rose & Green King) on board to which we are very grateful for supporting the club. Our Just Giving campaign page continues to deliver some very generous contributions (and it is never too late to donate if you haven't already) which has given our pavilion a major uplift and two new hybrid pitches for our Junior section. This will give our Juniors the chance to play the majority of our home fixtures at Arden field.

Mill Hill Finches, our new collaboration with Mill Hill Village to establish a girls section is now up and running with Anisha and Hannah organising winter training and going in to local schools recruiting and coaching. We have 15 girls training with us over the winter so far and this is extremely positive development.

Men’s cricket has had a very busy winter with Dave Burton and our new Director of Cricket, Leigh Woodridge, organising a very structured winter training programme. Also a big thank you to Matt Walsh and Peter Yeates for assisting with the winter training. I am sure that this summer we will bear the benefits of all your hard work. We must strive to compete and aim for the top of all the leagues this year, with good planning and availability of players being a must. So please get your availability on Pitchero!

Junior boys section also had are very productive full winter training programme led by Leigh and Keerthi. This year we added strength and conditioning, so we hope to see the our Juniors flying around the outfield and running between the wickets like Lynford Christie. We will be running twelve teams in the junior section again this season. Our U15 and upward age groups will now come under the umbrella of Cricket Committee. This new player pathway will be run by Leigh Woodridge, who brings a wealth of experience to our club and will help our young talented player’s progress to adult and academy cricket. Also special thanks to all the Age group managers who do an absolutely outstanding job supporting the Juniors and who in my humble opinion our unsung hero’s.

After a very successful launch night with our new brewery Greene King, there will be several more social events organised in the coming months. Please save the date for our upcoming pre-season wine and cheese party on Easter Sunday and look out for updates about a race night in May and other events.

If there are any members who can assist in helping or running a event for the club please come forward, your club needs you!

A very special thanks to the Exec Committee who have worked their socks off this winter getting the club in to a strong financial position and with good governance. I’m sure some of them are putting in more time for the club than their employers!

Finally, can I request everyone to please read the training and practice arrangements for the season, complete the below forms to submit their t-shirt sizes (by the due date) and consent for photography. Additionally, we have put some guides on how to update Pitchero information and Play Cricket sign-up process which you may find useful.
